You need to cycle the tank for longer tank a week. 4-6 weeks with a 40 gallon. Depending on the fish will tell you what temp you will need. Tropical is 72* and above. I feed all my fish blood worm's and brine shrimp. Every tropical fish that I have had loves these. Everything from Angelfish to Guppies and Daino's. Tropical fish decorations, I would recommend some kind of cave. Mine love 'em.
