Is this temperature surprising for south-west france?

Ok so i live in south-west france in the lot just north of toulouse and i got up today and noticed it was hot so at about 4pm i went outside and took a thermometer and it mesured 54 degrees, i didn't believe it so i got another one and it said the same thing, is this really surprising for this area?
